It is indeed an honour and privilege for me to say a few words in response to the wonderful speech by the Hon. Minister of Education this morning.
Education is a precious commodity that many in third world countries do not have access to.
Here in Samoa we are very blessed that the world has not left us behind - that our children have the opportunity to develop their minds through some form of formal education.
We are indeed most thankful to those agencies that have over the years poured funds into our beloved Samoa to assist in promoting education in our Islands.
We are also thankful for the wisdom our forefathers and Government have placed on nurturing the future of our Samoan children through structured learning, and insuring that this advantage is shared in rural and remote areas.
Asau Primary School may bring forth future parliamentarians and other leaders of Samoa, and in today’s world, their success in-office and in the community, will depend largely on their educational up bringing. We are, therefore, thankful that the children of the Le Itu o Asau enjoy the same opportunities as any other child in Samoa, as education is made available right here in our own backyard.
Foremost, we thank the ADB for the provision of funds to build this profitable endeavour. We thank the Hon. Minister of Education for your valuable role in this productive project. We thank Government for their forward thinking in ensuring education is available to all Samoan children. Finally, I thank our village people for their patience and wisdom to recognise the importance of developing our youngsters.
