Budget Allocation for Pacific Islands Forum, Apia, Samoa, 03-10 August 2004
Cabinet has approved the allocation of funds amounting to $730,000.00 Tala to Government’s preparations in hosting this year’s Pacific Islands Forum, to be held in Apia, from the 03-10th August 2004.
Sixteen member countries will be participating in this Forum, including Australia and New Zealand, as well as two countries with Observer Status. A total of 200-250 participants are expected to attend the Forum in Samoa.
Important factors of the Forum include the Meeting of the Forum Officials Committee, which will take place on the 03-04th August. The Pacific Island Leaders Forum will be held on the 05-07th August. This will be followed by the Post Forum Dialogue, which will take place on the 09-11th August.
As host country, Samoa will be financially responsible for all preparations necessary for the Forum including; accommodation; transport; receptions; dinners; opening ceremony; conference facilities; and, ensuring that expected security and protocol is in place.
