Tattooing Lecture - 20th June - London

Damon Salesa sent us the following e-mail. Many thanks Damon.

Talofa,

I thought you might want to publicise an interesting occasion which will be happening in just over a week's time in London.

The new professor of Anthropology at Goldsmiths College, Professor Nicholas Thomas (a Pacific/Australian scholar of considerable repute) will be giving his inaugural lecture. It is titled "Art and Anthropology: the case of tattooing" and will be in the Gulland Lecture Theatre, Goldsmiths College, at 5.30 on 20 June 2000. This is of special interest to those who have a concern in Samoa as Prof. Thomas worked with Paulo Sulu'ape, the recently deceased tufuga tatau, one of the greatest practitioners of the art.

If you, or anyone else wishes to know more, they can email me, and I would be happy to try to answer any questions.

T. Damon Salesa
